What I do
After working full-time in corporate finance for more than two decades and as a part-time freelance writer and editor for 10 years, I finally made the long overdue plunge into writing and editing on a full -ime basis. To date, I've written for several newspapers and magazines in both Oregon and Colorado.
Who I am
I graduated from the University of Montana in Missoula with a bachelor's degree in English and Creative Writing, and then moved to eastern Wyoming, where I lived for a little over a year. Realizing I needed to be closer to a larger community, I moved to Boulder County, Colorado. Living high in the mountains (8,600 feet) was an experience not to be missed. I now make my home on the wet and wild Oregon coast.
What I like
Aside from waiting for the rare sunny moment to walk the dogs, I am an avid -- some would say rabid -- flyfisher. When the rivers freeze over and it become too cold to stand in shallow creeks, I like to snowshoe and hike.

This is Pickles, my seven-year-old Maltese. I don't normally dress him in coats and sweaters. This pose was for an article on developing pet manners, titled "pet-iquette". I call him my posable Barbie-dog. Just put him in a position and he stays that way.

And then there is Pyewacket. One of the sweetest cats I've ever known. When she feels like it. This was taken when she was just eight weeks old and weighed barely over one pound. Now two, she weighs in at more than 15 pounds and is still climbing -- not just in weight but the walls as well.
"Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace." - Milan Kundera
